No I have not been abducted by aliens, and surprisingly not been tied up and locked in a closet by my four kids either. The truth is I really miss writing when I take a day or two off, but sometimes just find the day slips away. From the moment my feet hit the floor in the morning, there is little time for rest, and by rest I mean laying down for an afternoon siesta(nap). Breakfast, as I've blogged many times, is an hour of orders and requests. Food flying, kids chattering, dog barking, dishes clattering, Nate and I hollering, I manage to dress and bathe four kids,on good days myself too, make beds, feed, pack lunches, plan my day, get ready and load up all the kids, before sinking into my car seat from utter exhaustion.
Most mornings Andrew rises first and stumbles into our room ready and raring to shower, get dressed and eat breakfast. He's earned the nickname alarm clock, because there are few mornings we are up before he is. Second is Asher, although he doesn't have the freedom to wander quite yet, so most mornings he is left to jabber and yell our names, until I am up and ready to chase. Ayden, usually follows Asher, and his mood is completely dependent on which side of the bed he's woke up on. One day he can be smiling and alert, and the next he is scowling and spitting bullets at anyone that looks at him. Alexa is not a morning person, and most days I have to use a torch to get her moving. If I could bottle the energy I spend moving her along in the mornings, I really could be called SUPER WOMAN!!! I can only look forward to the teen years, right? We are not night bathers, and so most mornings there is a constant shuffle in and out of our shower. Yes, that includes Asher, who usually showers with Ayden or Alexa. This may sound amazing, but it is pretty cute seeing his short little body in there, water beating down on his tiny little back. The kids help wash him up, as I stand waiting outside the shower with his towel. It is usually a battle to get him out and wrap him up, but one he hasn't yet won. I joke a lot about this morning routine, and the rest of my days, but it truly is how many of my days slip away before I knew what hit me.
